Here are more great reasons to begin a school gardening project – the chance for your school children to gain the ultimate recognition for their hard work and to also win FREE gardening equipment for your school from Harrod Horticultural! 2012 Competition

The 2012 competitions have now closed and we are pleased to announce, amongst others, The Topsham School are the winners of the Garden Plot competition. The Topsham School are the lucky recipients of £400 of Harrod Horticultural gift vouchers! Runners up are Dane Ghyll School who bagged themselves £200 of Harrod Horticultural gift vouchers to spend on their school gardening project - congratulations!

How are we judged?

On the progress of fruit and vegetable growing in your school gardening project in any period between September 2012 and 12 July 2013.

Simply submit a diary by 12 July 2013 of no more than 1,000 words with pictures that chart the journey of your school gardening project.  A good entry would include the following details:

    1. Name/address of school with school contact name & telephone number.

    2. List of the main aims of the project.

    3. Types of vegetable or fruit grown and space given to each.
     
    4. When growing started and finished.

    5. Sponsorship, donations or help with materials used.

    6. Details of all the stages from preparing, sowing, maintenance and harvesting.  

    7. Extent of pupil involvement, i.e. how they have helped to plan, build, plant and maintain the garden.

    8. Celebrating the harvest – any special events organised around the project, i.e. food tasting, cooking lessons, how the harvest was used, etc.

    9. Pupils learning experiences - what were the key lessons learned and how much enjoyment did they gain?
